Accessories for dressing up

Accessories are vital for a show-stopping Fancy Dress Costume. The Queen of Hearts wouldn't forget her Crown and Little Red Riding Hood would be pretty rubbish without her Hood!

Thankfully our costumes come with the vital accessories but there is always a little something that can really make your costume spectacular. Ladies ensembles can be easily vamped up with a pair of stockings or tights which make them much more sexier and to be honest a lot more comfortable, sometimes getting in Fancy Dress means you'd like to cover up in certain places, a pair of cute white stockings with bows are perfect for this. Don't like stockings? Why not add a pair of frilly lacey ankle socks so your feet don't hurt in those killer heels!

Gloves - Gloves are a fantastic way to bring some class to a costume. Whether you are going as a 1920's Flapper Girl or want to vamp up a Fairytale costume they are perfect. In satin Black, White or Pink you can have your pick as to what goes with your outfit best. Or maybe opt for some Gothic lace black gloves if you are going for a more Steampunk type look.

Are you looking to recreate a look with an existing costume? If your outfit lacks shape and you want to 'alter' it in a way then why not put on a Tutu underneath. It is a cheap and easy solution to altering an outfit without going for the scissors! You can also layer up with more than one to get a real va-va-voom style going on underneath your skirt.

Wigs are a great way to transform your look. I know if I put on a Neon Pink Wig that I look completely different! Curly Blonde, long Blonde bombshell, bright green or multicoloured don a Wig at the Party and you could be a completely different person and really get into character. I went to a Party last week and went for a Katy Perry inspired Candy Fairy look, it's really fun and includes:
  • Dress
  • Hair Clip
  • Wings
  • Glovelettes
  • Socks
  • Wand
So I just added some short frilly white ankle socks and a short neon pink bob wig and I must say I thought I looked pretty good. This costume is a good example of how accessories liven up a costume, when little details come together they really look amazing. When I get a bit of confidence ill add some pics for you all!

Wigs, masks, inflatable props - there are so many types of accessories to think about when it comes to the Fancy Dress world. Going as a Pirate? Don't forget your pet Parrot and Musket Gun. Going as a Gladiator? Don't forget your sword!

If you want any help accessorising your Costume just let me know and ill help you out.
